Cherry Cobbler

  1. Mix sugar and cornstarch in saucepan.
  2. Stir in cherries and almond extract.
  3. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
  4. Boil and stir 1 minute after mixture starts to thicken.
  5. Pour into a 2-quart casserole dish.
  6. Cut shortening into flour, sugar, baking powder and salt until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  7. Stir in milk.
  8. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto hot cherry mixture.
  9. Bake until dough is golden brown.
  10. Bake at 400u0b0 for approximately 25 to 30 minutes.
  11. Great with vanilla ice cream.
