Applesauce Chocolate Chip Brownies
- 1 (4 ounce) container applesauce
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons margarine (I use Brummell and Brown)
- 1.25 (12 ounce) bags semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- Heat applesauce, sugar, margarine, and chocolate chips over low-medium heat in saucepan until partly melted. Do NOT heat until smooth. There should still be visible chocolate chips in batter. In separate mixing bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, and flour. Add eggs and vanilla to mixture and blend. Add cooled chocolate mixture and mix. Pour batter into greased 9.5 inch pie pan or comparable. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until done.
