Beef Bourbonnaise
- 1/4 c. bacon drippings
- 6 small onions or 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 lb. mushrooms, sliced
- 1 lb. lean round steak, cut into 3/4-inch cubes
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. crumbled marjoram or rosemary
- 1/8 tsp. ground pepper
- 1/8 tsp. crumbled thyme
- 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed beef broth
- 1/2 c. wine vinegar
- 1/2 c. bourbon
- Heat bacon drippings.
- Add onions and mushrooms; cook over medium heat until lightly browned.
- Remove onions and mushrooms; reserve drippings.
- Add steak and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
- Sprinkle flour, salt, marjoram or rosemary, pepper and thyme over meat; stir so that ingredients are well blended.
