Mocha Chip Cookies

  1. Beat shortening and butter in a large mixing bowl at medium speed of an electric mixer until fluffy.
  2. Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and powdered sugar, beating well.
  3. Add egg, beating well. Dissolve coffee granules in water; add to creamed mixture, beating well.
  4. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture, beating well.
  5. Stir in chocolate morsels and pecans.
  6. Cover and chill 1 hour.
  7. Shape into 1/2-inch balls; roll in additional sugar.
  8. Place on lightly greased cookie sheets. Press with a fork to flatten.
  9. Bake at 350u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  10. Cool on wire racks.
  11. Yield:
  12. 6 1/2 dozen.
