Chocolate-Coconut Cookies
- 3/4 c. butter Crisco
- 1 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 c. flour
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. mini morsels (chocolate chips)
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1/2 c. flaked coconut or finely chopped peeled apple
- Heat oven to 375u0b0.
- Combine shortening, sugar, milk, vanilla and egg.
- Beat well.
- Combine flour, baking soda and salt.
- Sift and stir into shortening mixture.
- Stir in chocolate chips, nuts and coconut or apple.
- Drop from spoon onto greased baking sheet. The secret of success is to bake cookies only until outside edges begin to turn brown, 6 to 8 minutes.
- Remove from oven and allow to finish baking on sheet a couple minutes before moving cookies to rack to cool.
