Apple Crostata
- 1 refrigerated pie crust, softened as directed on box
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 4 cups peeled apples, sliced thin
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Heat oven to 400u0b0F.
- Remove pie crust from pouch; sprinkle with flour and roll out slightly.
- Place dough on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Mix sugar, brown sugar, the flour and cinnamon in medium bowl.
- Add lemon juice to apples; toss gently, then add sugar mixture and combine.
- Spoon apple mixture onto center of crust, spreading to within 2 inches of edge.
- Fold edge of crust over apples; crimp and fold dough like pleats.
- Cut butter into small pieces and place in several spots on top of apples.
- Bake 30 to 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
- Poke apples with a knife tip to see if they are done.
- If crust becomes too brown, place a sheet of aluminum foil over the top during baking.
