Old Fashioned Pound Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. Cream butter and shortening in large mixing bowl, until fluffy. Add sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, creaming well after each addition. Stir in vanilla, lemon extract and juice.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, blending well after each addition.
  4. Sift together flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  5. Stir thoroughly after each addition. Pour into prepared pan.
  6. Bake 1 hour and 20 to 30 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 15 minutes on wire rack; remove from pan.
