Honey Cake

  1. Sift flour.
  2. Measure and sift with baking powder, baking soda, spices and salt.
  3. Beat eggs until thick and light, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add sugar gradually, beating well. Add honey, coffee and shortening.
  5. Blend well.
  6. Add dry ingredients.
  7. Beat until well blended.
  8. Sprinkle nuts on bottom of greased and waxed paper lined 9 x 13-inch pan.
  9. Bake in moderate oven (375u0b0) for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
  10. Let stand in pan 5 minutes, then turn out on rack.
  11. Cut into squares.
  12. Yield: 24 servings.
