Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 c. solid shortening
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/3 c. granulated sugar
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 c. rolled oats
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 large (12 oz. each) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate baking pieces
- 2 c. chopped walnuts
- In large bowl, beat together on high speed the shortening, butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until thoroughly combined, about 5 minutes.
- Then beat in eggs, one at a time. Beat in vanilla and lemon juice.
- In a bowl, stir together baking soda, salt, cinnamon, oats and flour.
- Beat dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until well combined; mix in chocolate pieces and nuts.
- For each cookie, drop approximately 1/4 cup dough on lightly greased baking sheet 3 inches apart.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 16 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
