Tahoe Brunch
- 12 slices white bread, trimmed
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 lb. Jimmy Dean sausage
- 1 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
- 6 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- Butter the bread with 1/2 cup butter.
- Brown mushrooms and onion until tender in 3 tablespoons butter.
- Brown sausage and drain.
- Grease a 9 x 13-inch casserole. Layer 6 slices of bread, 1/2 mushroom mixture, 1/2 sausage and 1/2 cheese.
- Repeat layers. In a mixing bowl beat together eggs, milk, mustards, nutmeg and pepper.
- Pour over casserole.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight. Sprinkle parsley on top.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour.
- (Can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance.)
