Wild Rice Bread
- 2 Tbsp. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 c. lukewarm milk
- 2 Tbsp. honey or sugar
- 3/4 c. powdered milk
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. cooked wild rice
- 5 to 6 c. flour
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Heat milk to lukewarm; add honey.
- Stir to dissolve.
- Add to ingredients.
- Stir in dry milk and oil.
- Stir in flour and cooked rice.
- Pour dough onto floured surface; knead in flour (dough is slightly sticky because of rice).
- Place in greased bowl.
- Cover.
- Let rise in warm place until double.
- Turn out on lightly floured surface.
- Knead well. Place in 2 loaf pans.
- Let rise until double.
- Turn out on lightly floured surface.
- Knead well.
- Place in 2 loaf pans.
- Let rise until double.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 45 minutes until lightly brown. Brush with butter while still warm.
- This dough does not raise very fast.
