Peanut Gingerbread With Lemon Sauce
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar (white or brown)
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. molasses
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. ground, roasted peanuts
- Cream shortening; add
- sugar,
- egg
- and molasses.
- Sift flour; measure.
- Add baking powder, soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Sift together again.
- Combine ingredients.tdd milk in gradually as you combine
- the
- shortening
- and flour mixtures, mixing well. Add peanuts
- last,teserving two tablespoons to sprinkle over top.
- Bake for 20
- to
- 30
- minutestn a 350u0b0 to 375u0b0 oven.
- Serve warm
- or
- cold
- with
- favorite sauce.
- Lemon Sauce is excellent.
