Cuisinart Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
- 6 Tbsp. solid vegetable shortening
- 1/2 stick butter (at room temperature and cut up)
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. unbleached flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. pecans (optional)
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0 and place rack in middle of oven.
- Have ungreased cookie sheet ready.
- Insert metal blade, process egg, both sugars, shortening, butter and vanilla for 30 seconds.
- Put flour, baking soda and salt in a cup and pour over sugar mixture. Put pecans over flour and then add chocolate morsels over that. Pulse twice, until the ingredients are combined.
- Do not overprocess, there will be a light dusting of flour on the surface of the dough.
- This will blend in easily after dough is shaped. Use rounded tablespoonful of dough to shape a 1 1/2-inch round. Arrange on cookie sheet and bake about 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
- Cool on rack.
- Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
