Applesauce Cake

  1. Cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Add beaten eggs. Stir soda into applesauce.
  3. Reserve 1 cup flour to dredge fruit and nuts. Sift the remaining dry ingredients.
  4. Add to the creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Add nuts, fruit and preserves.
  5. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 300u0b0 for 3 hours. Cool.
  7. Put in closed container and lay apples slices on top or place a small glass of wine in middle of cake for moisture.
