Pound Cake
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. lemon flavoring
- 2 sticks butter
- 5 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
- Cream shortening and butter; gradually add sugar.
- Beat at medium speed until well blended and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
- Stir in the flavorings.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube or Bundt pan.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour, or until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes; remove from pan.
- Cool completely on a rack.
