Caramel Nut Brownies

  1. Melt caramels with 1/3 cup milk over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  2. (May melt in microwave if desired.)
  3. In mixing bowl, combine remaining 1/3 cup milk with cake mix and margarine; mix well.
  4. Press half of cake mixture into bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch cake pan.
  5. Bake at 350u0b0 for 6 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle 1 cup nuts and 1 cup chocolate chips over crust.
  7. Top with caramel mixture, spreading caramel to edges of pan.
  8. Top with spoonfuls of remaining cake mixture; press gently into caramel mixtures. Sprinkle with remaining nuts, pressing lightly into top.
  9. Bake at 350u0b0 for an additional 20 minutes.
  10. Cool before cutting.
