Fruitcake Cookies

  1. Sift flour and measure.
  2. Sift again with soda and salt. Cream shortening.
  3. Add sugar and eggs.
  4. Beat until light and fluffy.
  5. Add sour milk and flour.
  6. Add nuts, cherries, dates and candied fruit.
  7. Chill dough for several hours.
  8. Drop by teaspoonfuls, about 2-inches apart, on lightly greased baking sheet.
  9. Top each cookie with half a candied cherry.
  10. Bake in moderate oven at 375u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
