Brown And Serve Rolls(Makes 24 To 32 Rolls)
- 3/4 c. milk
- 4 Tbsp. margarine
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cakes yeast
- 3/4 c. warm water
- 4 1/2 c. sifted flour
- Scald milk.
- Stir in margarine, sugar and salt.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- In a small bowl mix yeast and water.
- Let set for 5 minutes.
- Stir into milk when it has cooled, then add half the flour.
- Beat until smooth, then work in remaining flour.
- Turn onto floured board and knead about 10 minutes.
- Place in greased bowl.
- Turn over, cover and let rise until doubled, about an hour. Punch down.
- Form into any shape of rolls you wish (Parker-House, Cloverleaf, small dinners rolls).
- Arrange on greased cookie sheets or in a pan.
- Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.
- Bake at 300u0b0 for 25 minutes until partly baked, but not browned.
- Cool.
