French Onion Bake

  1. In a large skillet, saute onions in 2 Tablespoons butter until tender.
  2. Sprinkle with flour;
  3. stir in salt and pepper.
  4. Add the consome and sherry;
  5. cook and stir until thickened, about 3 minutes.
  6. Pour into a shallow 2-quart baking dish or individual baking dishes.
  7. Spread remaining butter on both sides of bread; place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake at 350u0b0F. for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Place bread on top on onion mixture; sprinkle with cheeses.
  10. Bake , uncovered, for 10 to 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
