Cream Cheese Treats

  1. Beat cream cheese and butter together until well blended.
  2. Add flour and lemon; mix well.
  3. Form into four balls of equal size; wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate until firm.
  4. Roll out one ball at a time between two sheets of waxed paper to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out with 2 1/2-inch round scalloped-edge cookie cutter (or plain cutter).
  5. Place cookies on ungreased baking sheets.
  6. On one side of cookie, cut out 1-inch wide heart with cookie cutter 1/4-inch from the edge (may be omitted).
  7. Place a small amount of preserves on the other side of cookie.
  8. Fold cookie in half and press edges together.
  9. Bake in a preheated 375u0b0 oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until slightly puffed and just beginning to brown.
  10. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheets.
  11. Yields approximately 4 dozen cookies.
