Judi'S Beef Stroganoff

  1. Heat cooking oil in a large pot or frying pan and brown beef in it.
  2. When meat is browned, add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup-water, garlic powder, bay leaf, salt, allspice and wine.
  3. If you wish, add liquid from can of sliced mushrooms at this time.
  4. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add cream of mushroom soup (do not dilute) and sliced mushrooms.
  6. Heat through.
  7. Add remaining 1/4 stick butter and heat through.
  8. Add sour cream.
