Judi'S Beef Stroganoff
- 1 1/2 lb. stewing beef, cubed
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 3 small onions
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 3 Tbsp. ketchup, mixed with 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 large bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 stick butter (4 Tbsp. butter)
- 5 oz. cooking wine (white)
- 3 oz. can sliced mushrooms
- 10 oz. can mushroom soup
- 1 c. sour cream
- egg noodles, cooked
- Heat cooking oil in a large pot or frying pan and brown beef in it.
- When meat is browned, add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup-water, garlic powder, bay leaf, salt, allspice and wine.
- If you wish, add liquid from can of sliced mushrooms at this time.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Add cream of mushroom soup (do not dilute) and sliced mushrooms.
- Heat through.
- Add remaining 1/4 stick butter and heat through.
- Add sour cream.
