Almond Cookies

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and spices.
  3. Blend into butter mixture.
  4. Stir in chopped nuts.
  5. Chill dough at least 2 hours.
  6. Shape dough into rounds the size of melon balls.
  7. Place on greased baking sheet; flatten slightly.
  8. Combine egg yolk and water; brush onto cookies. Top each cookie with a nutmeat, pressing into cookie.
  9. Bake at 375u0b0 for 10 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Yield:
  11. 3 dozen cookies.
