Supper On A Bread Slice
- 1 loaf unsliced French bread
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. cracker meal
- 1 egg, beaten slightly
- 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 3/4 tsp. monosodium glutamate or Accent
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. grated process American cheese (8 oz.)
- 2/3 c. undiluted evaporated milk
- 1 small pkg. sliced American cheese, cut into strips
- Cut bread in half lengthwise.
- Mix all other ingredients except sliced cheese strips.
- Spread meat mixture evenly over top surface of bread.
- Wrap aluminum foil around crust side of each half, leaving top uncovered.
- Place on a cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 25 minutes.
- Remove from oven and garnish with strips of cheese.
- Bake 5 minutes longer or until bubbly and browned nicely. (This can be done under a broiler.)
