Upside-Down Sausage Pie

  1. Cut or shape sausage into patties.
  2. Placed in an unheated skillet.
  3. Cook over low heat until patties are well browned.
  4. Pour off excess fat as it accumulates.
  5. Be sure patties are well cooked and place in casserole dish.
  6. Brown the onion rings in a small amount of sausage drippings.
  7. Place fried onions over sausage patties in casserole dish and add undiluted tomato soup.
  8. Sift all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl; blend in margarine.
  9. Add milk to make a soft, but not sticky, dough.
  10. Turn onto a floured board and pat out to size that fits casserole dish.
  11. Place on top of meat mixture.
  12. Bake in 400u0b0 oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
  13. Biscuit dough should be well browned and done throughout.
  14. Place on platter so that meat mixture is on top.
  15. Serve hot.
  16. Makes 6 servings.
