Apple Pie
- 2 pie crusts (top and bottom)
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1/2 c. brown sugar (light)
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon (I use McCormick apple pie spice mix)
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg (I use McCormick apple pie spice mix)
- 6 c. thinly sliced tart apples
- dash of lemon juice
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 egg yolk`
- Preheat oven to 425u0b0.
- In large bowl, mix sugars, flour, spices and salt.
- Add apples; toss lightly to combine.
- Put in bottom crust.
- Sprinkle with lemon juice.
- Dot with butter.
- Place top crust on the apples.
- Cut vent to let steam escape.
- Flute edges.
- Mix yolk with 1 tablespoon water.
- Brush on crust.
- Bake at 425u0b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
- Serve warm with Cheddar cheese or dollop of vanilla ice cream.
