New Orleans Pralines
- 1 lb. dark brown sugar
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. whole milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. whole pecans
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 c. Quaker oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)
- 1 1/2 c. chopped peanuts, walnuts or pecans
- 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 c. butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 c. honey or corn syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. salt
- Combine all ingredients; mix well.
- Press firmly into well-greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.
- Bake in preheated very hot oven (450u0b0) for about 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
- (Mixture will be golden brown and bubbly.)
- Cool thoroughly.
- Cut into bars.
- Makes 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch pan of bars.
