Christmas Fruitcake
- 6 cups raisins or 2 cups white raisins or currants
- 2 cups prunes
- 8 1/2 cups mixed candied fruit
- 3 cups walnuts
- 1 Tbsp orange rind
- 1/2 cups fruit juice
- 5 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 lb. shortening crisco
- 2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons cloves
- 1 teaspoon allspices
- 2 teaspoons mace
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 10 well beaten eggs
- Rinse raisins and drain on towel.
- Pour boiling water over prunes.
- Let stand 10 minutes.
- DRAIN DRY, use scissors and cut up.
- Combine nuts, rind, all fruits.
- Pour juice over and let stand.
