Hot, Sweet And Sour Owens Sausage Balls
- 1 lb. Owens hot country sausage
- 1 c. bread crumbs
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten slightly
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce (divided)
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1/2 c. orange juice
- 1/4 c. Cointreau
- 1 small red bell pepper, chopped fine
- 1 c. orange marmalade (sweet)
- 1/8 c. wine vinegar
- 1 onion, quartered
- 1/2 lb. small mushrooms, cleaned
- 1/2 c. chicken broth
- 1 Tbsp. dry sherry
- Combine sausage, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce thoroughly and form into balls about the size of a walnut.
- Set aside.
- Saute chopped bell pepper in margarine for about 1 minute; add orange juice, Cointreau, marmalade and vinegar.
- Continue to cook until sauce is quite thick.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
