Boston Lettuce And Mandarin Salad
- 2 heads Boston lettuce
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. red wine vinegar
- 1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. salad oil
- 2 tsp. chili sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- dash of Tabasco sauce
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 can mandarin oranges
- 2 avocados, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
- salt and pepper
- Wash lettuce and tear into bite size pieces.
- Refrigerate. Make dressing by mixing the next 9 ingredients in a pint glass jar. Chill several hours, then shake well.
- Before serving, mix lettuce and dressing, then toss in oranges, avocado and walnuts.
- Season to taste.
- Makes 4 servings.
