Grown Up Sloppy Joes
- vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup pasta sauce
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- hamburger bun (optional)
- Coat a large frying pan with oil and set over medium-high heat.
- When hot, add onion and green pepper, saute until onions starts to soften about 3 minutes.
- Add ground beef, crumble while browning meat.
- Add garlic, Worcestershire, basil, thyme, salt and pepper.
- Using a fork or wooden spoon, stir often to keep meat crumbling until no pink remains, 3 to 5 minutes.
- Mix in pasta and barbecue sauces. Stirring the mixture often until hot, about 2 more minutes.
- Using wooden spoon, spoon over toasted hamburger buns or bread.
