Walnut Glory Cake

  1. Combine the first 3 ingredients.
  2. Beat egg whites in large mixing bowl until soft mounds form.
  3. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar. Continue beating until very stiff, straight peaks form.
  4. Combine egg yolks, vanilla and 3/4 cup sugar in small mixing bowl.
  5. Beat until thick and lemon-colored.
  6. Stir in dry ingredients.
  7. Fold batter gently but thoroughly into egg whites using wire whip or rubber spatula.
  8. Fold in walnuts.
  9. Turn into ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
  10. Bake at 350u0b0 for 55 to 65 minutes.
  11. Invert immediately.
  12. Cool completely before removing from pan.
  13. Frost with a vanilla glaze, sprinkle with confectioners sugar or serve with whipped cream.
