Hamburger Soup
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 4 c. water
- 2 beef flavored bouillon cubes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 bay leaf
- 3/4 c. sliced celery
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 c. medium egg noodles, uncooked
- 1/2 tsp. dried whole thyme
- Cook ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain on paper towels.
- Discard pan drippings.
- Add tomatoes, water, bouillon cubes, salt, pepper, bay leaf, celery and Worcestershire sauce.
- Bring to a boil.
- Cover and simmer 30 minutes.
- Add mixed vegetables, noodles and thyme.
- Bring to a boil.
- Simmer, uncovered, about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serves 6 to 8.
