Old South Brunswick Stew(Good Cold Night Supper Dish!)
- 2 lb. chicken, cubed or shredded
- 2 lb. pork, cubed
- 2 lb. beef, cubed
- 1 large can tomatoes
- 1 large can corn
- 1 large can butter beans or 1 pkg. frozen
- 1 large can okra or 1 pkg. frozen
- 1/4 c. catsup
- 3 tsp. Worcestershire
- 1 to 3 tsp. Tabasco
- 3 Tbsp. parsley flakes
- 3 Tbsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. mustard seed
- 1 tsp. curry powder
- 1 tsp. thyme
- 2 to 3 bay leaves
- Cook meats until tender, saving the stock.
- Shred meat by hand.
- Mix all vegetables (except butter beans) with meats and seasonings together in a large pot; simmer on top of stove 6 to 8 hours.
- Add butter beans the last hour of cooking time.
- Stir frequently; if liquid is needed, add some of the meat stock. Serves 10.
