Sesame Toffee Bars
- 1/4 c. sesame seed
- 1 c. margarine
- 1 c. dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. finely chopped or ground nuts
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- Toast sesame seed in 350u0b0 oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Stir in nuts.
- Sift flour with spices and add to creamed mixture. Mix well.
- Spread 1/4-inch thick onto a 13 x 15-inch baking sheet. Bake at 350u0b0 for 20 minutes.
- While baking, melt chocolate pieces in double boiler over hot water.
- Spread chocolate over baked cookies while hot.
- Sprinkle top with sesame seed and cut into bars while warm.
- Makes 4 dozen cookies.
