Pita Burgers
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
- 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
- 2 cups lettuce, shredded
- 1 medium cucumber, seeded and chopped
- 1 cup low-fat plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
- 6 whole gyro-style pita bread (6 inches)
- In a small bowl, combine the onion, garlic and seasonings; crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into six patties.
- Grill or broil for 5-7 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 160u0b0 and juices run clear.
- Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine the lettuce, cucumber, yogurt and sesame seeds. Top each burger with lettuce mixture; serve on pita breads.
