Corn Dogs

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, corn meal, sugar, baking powder, salt and dry mustard.
  2. Cut in shortening, using two knives scissor fashion, until mixture becomes coarse crumbs. Mix egg and milk. Add to dry mixture, mixing well. Insert wooden skewers in one of wieners.
  3. Heat oil to 375u0b0. Coat wieners with batter.
  4. If batter is too thick, add 1 to 2 tablespoons milk.
  5. Place 2 or 3 wieners in oil for 3 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with ketchup or mustard (optional).
