Fu'S Pepper Steak
- 1 lb. sirloin, cut 1/4-inch thick
- 2 Tbsp. beef suet
- 1/4 c. chopped onion
- 1 slice garlic
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 bouillon cube
- 1 c. hot water
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
- 1 large green pepper, cut in thin strips
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/4 c. cold water
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 4 c. hot cooked rice
- Cut beef in serving pieces or narrow strips.
- Brown slowly in hot beef fat about 15 minutes.
- Add onion and garlic.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir and cook about 2 minutes longer.
- Dissolve bouillon cube in hot water.
- Add to meat.
- Cover skillet and let simmer until meat is almost done, 20 to 30 minutes.
- Cook 10 minutes longer.
- Remove garlic slice.
- Uncover skillet; add combined cornstarch, water and soy sauce stirred together and bring to a boil, stirring constantly, 5 minutes longer.
- Serve over hot rice.
- Serves 6.
