Grandma'S Old Fashioned Gingerbread

  1. Mix sugar and shortening well.
  2. Add ginger, cinnamon oil, eggs and cooking oil.
  3. Mix until all lumps are gone.
  4. Add milk slowly; add flour, mixing with hands or dough hooks.
  5. Place the cup of flour in a large bowl and lightly knead dough therein.
  6. Pat dough into cakes 3 to 4 inches long, or roll thin and cut into gingerbread men.
  7. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 450u0b0 for about 8 minutes until lightly browned.
  8. Beat egg whites with sugar and brush tops and bottoms before they cool.
  9. Serve hot with a cold glass of milk.
