Broccoli And Cheese Pastries
- 1 large bunch broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 1/2 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 c. finely sliced green onion
- 1 1/2 tsp. dried dill weed
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 (15 oz.) pkg. ready made pie crusts (not frozen)
- 1 egg, beaten with 1 Tbsp. water
- Preheat oven to 400u0b0.
- Steam broccoli florets and set aside to cool.
- In a medium bowl, mix the cheese, green onion, dill weed and nutmeg.
- Unfold crusts.
- Cut each crust in half, creating 4 half circles.
- Add broccoli to medium bowl and toss ingredients. Mound 1/4 of the filling on each half pastry; press filling to compact it.
- Fold the pastry closed and seal edges with a fork. Pierce pastry with the tines of a fork several times.
- Place pastries on a large baking sheet; brush generously with glaze. Bake pastries for 22 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
- Makes 4.
- Reheat well in a microwave.
