Bishop'S Bread
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. maraschino cherries
- 1/2 lb. sweet chocolate bar
- 2 c. nuts
- 1 c. dates
- Beat the butter until soft and fluffy.
- Gradually add the sugar, beating well after each addition.
- Continue beating until smooth.
- Beat the eggs and add them to the butter mixture.
- Beat well.
- Sift together the salt, baking powder and flour.
- Add this gradually to the butter mixture.
- Blend well after each addition. Cut the cherries, chocolate, nuts and dates into small pieces. Stir them into the batter.
- Pour into a lightly greased 8 x 4 x 3-inch loaf pan.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 1 hour 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
