Rice Pie
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. chopped onions
- 1/4 c. chopped green peppers
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 3 c. cooked rice
- 3/4 c. American cheese
- 2 to 3 lb. Beef Cross Rib roast
- 6 to 10 cloves, garlic, halved lengthwise
- 1/4 c. salt
- 1/2 c. coarsely ground pepper
- 1/2 c. bay leaves (about 25) soaked in water for 1 hour
- Norma's Steak Sauce (recipe follows)
- 8 sourdough rolls, split
- lettuce leaves
- Make deep slits in beef roast and insert garlic.
- Mix salt and pepper.
- Roll roast in salt and pepper mixture.
- Place roast on grill over hot coals.
- Cover.
- Barbecue 30 minutes.
- Add wet bay leaves to coals and cover.
- Barbecue 15 minutes.
