Raisin Rocks
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 c. butter or shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg (unbeaten)
- 1/2 c. sour milk
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 1 c. seedless raisins or currants
- 1/2 c. nutmeats, coarsely broken
- Sift flour once; measure. Add baking soda, salt and spices. Sift together 3 times. Work butter with spoon until creamy. Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg. Beat well. Add flour alternately with combined milk and molasses, a small amount at a time, beating until smooth after each addition. Add raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (400u0b0) for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 3 dozen Rocks.
