Yummy Caramel Bars
- 32 Kraft caramels
- 1/3 c. light cream or evaporated milk
- 1 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 c. oatmeal
- 3/4 c. margarine
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- Combine caramels and
- cream
- in
- top
- of double boiler. Melt, stirring occasionally
- until smooth and set aside.teat oven to 350u0b0.
- Lightly butter
- 11
- x 7 x 1 1/2-inch pan.
- Sift flour, baking soda
- and
- salt together into large mixing bowl. Stir in brown sugar
- and
- oats.
- Using
- pastry
- blender or two knives, cut intargarine
- until
- mixture
- looks
- liketoarse crumbs.turn half of oat mixture into prepared pan and press. Bake 10 to 15 minutes
- or until lightly browned.temove from oven and sprinkle evenly
- with
- chocolate
- chips
- and pecans. Spread with caramel mixture.
- Pat
- remaining oat mixture over top.
- Return to oven and
- bake
- 20
- minutes
- or until lightly browned.
- Cool and cut into bars.
