Lentil Soup With Frankfurters

  1. Place onions, celery, leek, potatoes, diced bacon and butter in a heavy kettle.
  2. Saute until soft, but not brown.
  3. Wash and drain lentils.
  4. Add them to potatoes with carrots, sliced franks, salt, catsup and water or chicken broth.
  5. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer, covered, for 3 hours or until lentils are soft. Add more water as needed.
  6. Recipe can be prepared in crock-pot or slow cooker according to manufacturer's directions.
  7. Serves 8.
