Italian Spaghetti Sauce
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 (12 oz.) can Progresso Italian whole tomatoes
- 1 can sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 c. extra light olive oil
- spices to taste: basil, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic powder and parsley
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 (12 oz.) can Progresso tomato puree
- 1 small can Progresso tomato paste
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1/4 c. white wine
- Combine olive oil, minced garlic, onion and green pepper in Dutch oven or large pot.
- Saute until tender.
- Add pork and brown. Add tomato puree and tomato paste, stirring until combined. Strain whole tomatoes through strainer (mash by hand) so that only the juice goes into the sauce.
- Add remaining ingredients and season to taste.
- Simmer over very low heat for 1 hour, stirring constantly.
- Sauce freezes well and recipe makes plenty!
