Kohlrabi-Gemuse(German)
- 6 kohlrabi, peeled and sliced thin
- salt water
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- fresh parsley, chopped
- 3 Tbsp. flour, lightly browned in Crisco
- water or beef broth
- 1 bouillon cube
- salt to taste
- Peel and
- slice kohlrabi.
- Take green, young leaves off stems and
- cook
- separately
- in
- small
- pot
- with boiling salt water. Drain
- this
- water.
- Set
- cooked leaves aside and chop finely. Cook sliced kohlrabi in salt water for a few minutes. Do not overcook.
- In
- Crisco,
- brown
- onion and parsley;
- add flour. Brown
- slightly;
- add
- kohlrabi water or beef broth or just plain water to make a sauce.
- Add bouillon cube, stirring constantly over low
- heat.
- If
- needed, add salt and pepper to taste.tdd kohlrabi
- slices.
- Carefully
- stirto
- as not to break up slices. Let
- cometo
- a low boil for only a minute. Serve with beef steak and fried potatoes.
