Mom'S Banana Pudding

  1. Combine little more than 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in double boiler.
  2. Mix in 1 whole egg and 3 egg yolks.
  3. Stir in milk. Cook, uncovered, over boiling water, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat; add vanilla and butter.
  5. Let cool slightly.
  6. Beat 3 egg whites until stiff, not dry; add 1/4 cup sugar and beat until forms stiff peak.
  7. Line 9 x 13-inch pan with vanilla wafers and bananas.
  8. Pour 1/2 pudding over wafers and bananas.
  9. Add another layer wafers, bananas, pudding.
  10. Top with egg whites and bake in preheated hot oven at 425u0b0 until brown.
