Chocolate Cake With Chocolate Sauce
- 1 c. whole wheat flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. safflower oil
- 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder
- 1/2 c. skim milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 c. cold water or coffee
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and baking powder. Combine oil and cocoa and add to dry ingredients.
- Beat in milk and vanilla.
- Pour batter into a lightly oiled or nonstick sprayed 9-inch square baking pan.
- Sprinkle the remaining dry ingredients over the top of the batter one at a time, but do not mix.
- Pour coffee or water over the top.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 minutes.
- To serve, invert each piece on a serving plate.
- Makes 9 servings.
