Spaghetti Tomato Sauce
- 2 (28 oz.) cans Hunt's whole peeled tomatoes, juice and all, chopped in food processor
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp. crushed red pepper
- 4 cans (small) tomato paste
- 1/2 c. olive oil
- 1/2 lb. ground round or chuck
- 2 tsp. salt
- dried oregano to taste
- Heat pan, add oil and lightly brown onion and green pepper. After they have started to cook, add the garlic and meat.
- When light brown, add spices.
- Mix well and add the tomato paste, cooking until mixture sticks to the pan; keep mixing.
- Add 2 cans of water (12 ounces) to paste mixture and blend well.
- Add chopped tomato mix and heat thoroughly.
- Lower heat to a simmer and cook 3 to 4 hours.
