Italian Tomato Sauce(Serves 6)

  1. Fry onion, garlic and celery slowly in the oil about 5 minutes.
  2. Crush tomatoes.
  3. Add to paste and the onion, celery and garlic.
  4. Add all other ingredients and simmer in a heavy covered pan 1 hour.
  5. Then add the meat balls and simmer, covered, about 30 minutes longer.
  6. (Cooked mushrooms may be added last 15 minutes.) If sauce becomes too thick, add a little water.
